Becoming an Educator

Operating a family day care business is a rewarding career, working from home with young children. You have the benefit of being self-employed whilst being supported by our family day care scheme and earn a good income from home.

 

As a small business owner you can set your own fees. As a professional Educator within a Family Day Care Scheme you are able to care for a total of 7 children. Your own children to 12 years of age are included in this number. Determine your own hours of work and set your own fees.

Our educators need to obtain:

  • A minimum qualification of or working towards a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.

  • A current positive blue card and police check for themselves; other occupants in their homes must have a current positive blue card

  • HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

  • HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

  • Registration with PRODA

  • A current public liability insurance policy

  • Comply with the National Quality Framework, state requirements and scheme policies and procedures
